Polenta pasticciata

This recipe is perfect if you want to prepare something in advance. So, you can really enjoy your friend/s when the polenta is baking in the oven.

Persons: 6
Preparation time: 30 minutes

Ingredients
1 cup Mais flower/polenta
1 litre of water
4 cups Ragu' sauce
2 mozzarella in pieces
1/2 cups of Parmesan cheese:

Steps:
  1. Put water into a pan and bring to a slow boil.
  2. Whisk the polenta in slowly, add salt and cook on a high heat for about five minutes until it thickens.
  3. Slowly pour the polenta into the hot liquid, whisking briskly to prevent clumping. Reduce the heat to low and cook, whisking constantly, for about 10 minutes, or until the liquid is absorbed.
  4. Preheat an oven to 400°F/180°C.
  5. Pour the 1/2 of polenta into a baking pan, spreading it flat with a rubber spatula moistened with cold water. Spoon on half of the ragu sauce, covering evenly, and top with half of the mozzarella cheese slices and parmesan cheese.
  6. Repeat the layers using the remaining ingredients. Sprinkle the Parmigiano cheese evenly over the top.
  7. Bake until the cheese melts and the sauce is bubbling, about 40 minutes.
  8. Let stand for 5 minutes, then serve hot directly from the baking dish.
